People and organization
Lagercrantz Group’s organisational model focuses on the operating subsidiaries and that they should succeed in their respective markets. Decentralised decision-making inspires the management groups to large responsibility to achieve set goals. Decentralised decision-making also means that decisions are made close to and in consultation with customers and suppliers, which leads to better decisions and opportunities for more flexibility. All in all, this givescompetitive advantages in relation to more centrally controlled organisations.
Lagercrantz Group is made up of just short of 30 operating subsidiaries, each of which operates under own name as a separate profit centre, with its own identity, its own goals and its own strategies. Each subsidiary is led by a chief executive with accountability for results, who reports to the subsidiary’s board of directors. The work of the board of directors is conducted under the direction of the division heads. Subsidiary boards of directors normally meet once per quarter and follow up operating activities relative to and realisation of the adopted business plan.
The subsidiaries are divided into four divisions based on the type of technology areas, Electronics, Mechatronics, Communications and Niche Products. See further in section Divisions.
Employees
Lagercrantz Group has a total of just short of 800 employees, 10 of whom at Group level. Of the employees 54 percent are in Sweden, 23 percent in Denmark, 12 percent in Finland, 4 percent in Norway and the remainder in the other countries where the Group is active, primarily the rest of Northern Europe.
Employment with Lagercrantz Group is distinguished by individual freedom, but also a requirement to shoulder great responsibility, and to deliver pursuant to set goals. Many find the environment and room for own thinking, and clear area of responsibility, as stimulating. Each subsidiary is relatively small and the contribution of each employee is therefore vital. Development is usually obtained when the area of responsibility is changed in lockstep with the development of business and technology. To get the chance to work in a specialist area, a niche, often with world-leading technology, and with large multi-national companies as customers, many also find stimulating. The overall personnel turnover in the Group is low.
Approximately one third of the employees work in sales and most of our newly hired personnel begin early with some type of selling role. The second largest category is technicians.
