Stena Line secured by COBS
To create a safe and secure working environment on board its ships, Stena Line has installed alarms and communication systems from COBS with the help of communications specialist Diwiton. On board systems are customised to each ship’s needs, and COBS reports that work has been streamlined and the environment has become safer since many functions can be administered from the one unit.
Stena Lines has chosen to install communication and security systems from COBS on 70 percent of its liners. Since all ships look different, solutions are tailored to the needs and wishes of each ship.
The latest upgrade was made to Stena Saga. There they changed the DECT system and replaced old telephones with the C-3110, a phone that can handle speech, alarms and messaging. The work on board has been streamlined by wireless monitoring of machine alarms and control of pumps, and safety has improved as personal alarms and other important information can be sent directly to the telephones of staff.
Many of Stena’s ships required a communication solution that is not dependent on fixed alarm buttons, in order to reduce lead times and running on board. Personal alarms, assault alarms, lone worker alarms and the possibility to start, stop and control actions via the same unit are key functions on Stena Saga for instance, says COBS.
A fire alarm is also integrated into the system. With the help of the COBS message server, the closest camera is activated in the event of a fire alarm and starts recording the alarmed zones.
