STV and Cisco strengthen Skåne region
The Skåne region is at the absolute cutting edge when it comes to meetings, communication and cooperation between colleagues in Sweden and internationally. Using video conferencing technology from STV and Cisco, meetings can be held efficiently and comfortably. This means efficient use of resources, well-founded decisions and ultimately a care and hospital environment that makes people feel better.
The proton dose planning group, which is nationwide project, is an example of a use of the technology, which has been extra relevant from a video perspective. The proton dose planning group aims to educate and prepare doctors, physicists and dose planners at seven different university hospitals in the country ahead of the joint commissioning of a new radiation treatment centre - the Skandion clinic in Uppsala. Skandion will receive its first patient for radiation treatment using proton therapy in June 2015. Compared to traditional radiation therapy this requires development of new ways of thinking and for this purpose, some forty people are brought together once a fortnight using video conferencing technology. Relevant knowledge is spread, experiences utilised and new questions are raised. When Skandion enters into operation, the proton dose planning group's meetings will have been underway for three years and this would not have been possible without video conferencing.
In the newly constructed Radiation Building at Skåne University Hospital in Lund, there is a very special video conferencing room. It was planned using Skåne region’s collective experience and by some of Sweden’s leading tele-meeting experts. The meeting room was designed to incorporate new ideas and the absolute foremost technology in harmony.
The Skåne region has ordered the new hospital building from Skanska and the video conference room was installed in collaboration with STV and Cisco.
