Tormek celebrates its 50-year anniversary in style.

New museum and artisan exhibition are open.
Swedish Tormek, which manufactures grinding machines for sharp edges on mainly hand tools, is celebrating a grand 50th anniversary. Tormek mostly has users in woodcraft, but also in hunting and outdoors, as well as professional chefs and, of course, dedicated home cooks.

For the anniversary, the company built a museum for their fans, which contains everything from the first prototype to today's machines. The museum also showcases the company’s history from 1973 when founder Torgny Jansson started the company, and a number of ambassadors, the creators who use the products.

MD Samuel Stenhem commented:  “We have highly engaged users, both in terms of the brand and the products. For example, there are two user groups on Facebook with over 10,000 members each, which users have started without our involvement. This museum is above all built for them.”

In addition to the permanent museum, Tormek has also opened an exhibition, Sharp Makers 2023, with artisans over the summer, to celebrate not only the sharp tools but the creators behind the tools. It is a blissful mix of everything from wood craftsmen, wood turners and wood sculptors to leather craftsmen, ceramicists, ax makers and knife makers from all over the world. Details available here

The celebration has not gone unnoticed. In June, Tormek’s anniversary was noticed in Swedish media as well as on Swedish televisionwatch the interview here ( in Swedish, 1 min).
